Description
The Cockroach is one of the oldest, and most famous saltwater flies of all-time. This fly will catch just about anything out there that eats baitfish, which is most everything out there. In particular, this is a great fly for tarpon, snook, trout and jacks but also worthy of a redfish or two. Hell we even sell it around here for a skinny water smallmouth and largemouth fly.
This version of the Cockroach is tied tarpon style, very sparse and back on the hook shank with a tarpon style “head”. It of course features splayed grizzly hackle tails and a tan, squirrel collar. Very traditional treatment here of this saltwater classic. Joe Brooks and Lefty Kreh would approve!
The Cockroach saltwater fly is tied on a 1/0 saltwater capable hook It measures just over 3 1/2″ long.
