Pat Ehler’s Grim Reaper fly is one that is certainly inspired by a traditional jig.
What a killer fly, finally someone pulled off a fly rodders jig-n-pig. Brutally effective on bass especially in heavy cover or dirty water. We have also used this fly extensively for redfish and also general saltwater. Anywhere you might “deep jig” say along a reef or in deep water, this is a a great choice.
Tied on a Gamakatsu B10S so you know it will hold up on freshwater and most saltwater fish. Fish these just like you would a jig and see what happens. Drives fish crazy!
