Loose mallard flank feathers, barred black and white feathers. Traditional material sold in a super-stuffed bag full. Natural and dyed to imitate wood duck sold here.
Mallard has a ton of uses….but most notably it is used as a cheaper option than wood duck for upright wings on Catskill style dry flies. It is also used on the famous Mallard Minnow streamer pattern.
Mallard Flank feathers are one of those items that are always found on the fly tying bench.
