Description
The Steelhead Bugger is a slight variation on a Wooly Bugger that comes from legendary Michigan Steelhead guide Ray Schmidt. It’s of course a “go-to” fly for many as most anything will eat a bugger, including steelhead. A staple steelhead fly to have in your box no matter where you are.
Most importantly, it’s tied on a very shout, slightly shorter shank hook making it more appropriate for a hard fighting steelhead. Peacock herl body and slightly more sparse on the hackle. Tied with steelhead in mind but nobody says you can’t throw it at anything that swims.
Schmidt’s Steelhead Bugger is tied on a size 6 hook.
