Description
Originally developed for the flats of Cuba, the Avalon fly pretty much dominates the fly selections on pangas in Belize. It is the TOP fly there for permit but also works great on large bonefish in the Bahamas as well. Anybody heading to the salt chasing permit or bones needs to have some Avalons. Period.
Dumbbell eyes bring it quickly to the bottom, and a strand of weighted beads tied opposite the hook makes the Keel Crab swim hook-side up. A creative way to increase hookups and avoid snagging on coral, this sneaky permit and bonefish fly disguises the upturned hook with an array of strike-inducing materials.
