Description
Galloup’s UV Caddis Pupa is a stupidly simple pattern, but has quickly become one of our favorites. In tyically Galloup fashion, Kelly has taken the caddis pupa to a new level, as he does with most flies he invents.
This fly uses UV Ice Dub to imitate the emerging pupa body. It gives just the right amount of “glow” and translucency under the water. A collar or pine squirrel rounds it off to make and excellent caddis pupa pattern. This one doesn’t look like much in the fly bin, nor does it photograph well, but it comes alive in the water!!! Typical attributes of a really great fly pattern.
This is the non-weighted version which we use for trailer flies or hung off of a dry fly with some fluro and a bit of sinking agent. Makes for a great second fly on a multi-fly rig or drop-shot rig. When the caddis are really popping, fish this one behind the bead version. Deadly.
