Standard Glo-bugs or egg flies…..also called “Blood Dot Eggs”. Hot Pink is the color here. One of the best selling categories of flies in our region. These are staple egg flies tied with Egg Yarn or Bug Yarn. Nothing fancy, but wildly effective.
These are tied on the good strong hooks and in the hot colors for steelhead and salmon. Most folks will use the larger size for salmon and steelhead in Michigan or in high water and the smaller size for steelhead and general trout fishing. This pattern is a go-to for steelhead everywhere, but also very good for trout fishing. When in doubt tie on an egg.
Glo Bug Egg flies sold here in sizes 6 and 10 and here in the color Pink or Hot Pink. A top choice for our Alaska trips and especially effective in water with a bit of stain to it.
